What it is used for
According to the US FDA label for Evista (DailyMed), raloxifene is used for treating and preventing osteoporosis in women after menopause, and lowering the risk of invasive breast cancer in postmenopausal women who have osteoporosis or are at high risk of invasive breast cancer; it is not a treatment for breast cancer. The US label carries a boxed warning about a higher risk of blood clots in the legs and lungs, and of death from stroke in postmenopausal women with heart disease or at high risk of heart events; women with active or past blood clots should not take it.
