What it is used for
According to the US FDA label for Rybelsus tablets (DailyMed), semaglutide is used for improving blood sugar control in adults with type 2 diabetes, together with diet and exercise, and lowering the risk of cardiovascular death, heart attack and stroke in adults with type 2 diabetes who are at high risk of these events. The US label carries a boxed warning about thyroid C cell tumors seen in rodents; it must not be used by people with a personal or family history of medullary thyroid cancer or MEN 2.
