What is Trancyp 10mg?

Trancyp 10mg is an Indian brand of tranylcypromine, a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) antidepressant. Each tablet contains tranylcypromine 10 mg. It is made in India by HAB Pharmaceuticals & Research Ltd.

What it is used for

According to the US FDA label for Parnate (DailyMed), tranylcypromine is used for major depressive disorder in adults who have not responded well enough to other antidepressants; it is not meant as the first treatment. The US label carries a boxed warning that antidepressants raised the risk of suicidal thoughts and behaviour in children, teenagers and young adults in short term studies, and that foods or drinks high in tyramine, or certain other medicines, taken with tranylcypromine can cause a dangerous rise in blood pressure (hypertensive crisis). Your doctor decides whether it suits you.
