Buy Generic Cialis in Sydney: Prescription Rules, NSW Data and Tadalafil Prices

Generic Cialis is tadalafil, and in Sydney you can get it two ways: from a local pharmacy with a script, or by ordering a personal supply from overseas under the Therapeutic Goods Administration's Personal Importation Scheme. Both routes need a valid Australian prescription. That is the part most "buy Cialis online Sydney" pages leave out, and it is the reason some parcels are seized at the Sydney mail gateway.

This guide is written for Sydney and New South Wales readers. It covers what the law actually requires, what NSW research says about how common erectile problems are, how international parcels reach Sydney addresses, which strengths and pack sizes make sense, and what the tablets cost. We sell generic tadalafil, so we have a commercial interest. Every figure comes from the sources listed at the end.

The short answer

Tadalafil is a Schedule 4 (prescription only) medicine everywhere in Australia, including NSW. You can legally import up to a three-month supply per order for your own use, as long as you hold a valid Australian prescription when the parcel arrives. Without one, the import does not meet the scheme's conditions and Australian Border Force can seize and destroy it. With one, a 90-tablet pack of generic tadalafil 20 mg from us costs about US$84 to US$90, or roughly US$0.93 to US$1.00 a tablet.

Is generic Cialis legal to buy in Sydney?

Yes, with a prescription. Cialis is the Eli Lilly brand. Generic tadalafil contains the same active ingredient, and several generic brands are on the Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods (ARTG). All of them are Schedule 4, which means a pharmacist can only supply them against a valid prescription.

Buying from overseas does not remove that requirement. The TGA says plainly that if a medicine is prescription only in Australia, you must hold a valid Australian prescription or written authority at the time of importation. Its own worked example of a person buying a prescription medicine from an overseas website without one ends with the goods treated as unlawful and seized by customs.

What NSW law adds

In New South Wales, the supply and possession of scheduled medicines is governed by the Poisons and Therapeutic Goods Act 1966 and its regulation, which adopt the national Poisons Standard schedules. For tadalafil the practical effect is the same as in every other state: a script from a registered prescriber is the key that makes both local supply and personal importation lawful.

There is no NSW permit to apply for and no separate state form for personal importation. The rules that bite on an overseas order are federal ones, enforced at the border.

The TGA Personal Importation Scheme in plain terms

• Prescription: you must hold a valid Australian prescription for tadalafil when the parcel arrives.
• Quantity: no more than three months' supply in one order, and no more than 15 months' supply over any 12-month period.
• Use: for you or an immediate family member only. Selling or sharing it is outside the scheme.
• Paperwork: the TGA advises that a copy of the prescription should be enclosed with the package.
• Quality: the TGA does not evaluate products imported this way, so it cannot vouch for them. Choose a manufacturer with a track record.

Getting a prescription in Sydney

A GP can assess erectile dysfunction and write a tadalafil script in a standard consultation. The assessment matters more than it sounds: erectile problems are often an early sign of heart disease, diabetes or low testosterone, and a doctor will check blood pressure and ask about nitrate heart medicines, which must never be combined with tadalafil.

If you would rather not see your regular GP, AHPRA-registered telehealth doctors can also issue a valid Australian prescription after an online consultation. Ask for a script that covers the dose pattern you intend to use (as needed or once daily) and enough repeats to cover a year of orders. A private script for a Schedule 4 medicine is generally valid for 12 months.

How common erectile dysfunction is in NSW

The largest Australian dataset on erectile function comes from New South Wales. The Sax Institute's 45 and Up Study asked more than 100,000 NSW men aged 45 and over about their erections. Among the 101,674 men without prostate cancer, only 39.3% reported no difficulty at all. A quarter had mild problems, and more than a third had moderate or complete erectile dysfunction.

The same study found the risk of moderate or complete ED was higher in men who were sedentary, smoked, carried extra weight, had lower socioeconomic status, or lived with diabetes, heart disease, depression or anxiety. Those are modifiable or treatable in many cases, which is one more reason to see a doctor rather than treat the symptom alone.

What happens as Sydney men get older

The Concord Health and Ageing in Men Project (CHAMP) follows community-dwelling men aged 70 and over from Sydney's inner west, run through the University of Sydney and Concord Hospital. At baseline in 2005 to 2007, 64% of the men reported erectile dysfunction. Five years later, 80% did.

The CHAMP researchers also found that erectile dysfunction at baseline was linked with higher mortality over the following seven years, but concluded it behaved more like a marker of overall health than an independent cause. The practical message for an older man is simple: new or worsening ED is worth a check-up, not just a tablet.

How a parcel to Sydney clears customs

International mail into Australia is processed at four gateway facilities, in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth. Sydney's is by far the biggest: the federal government has described it as the gateway through which about 80% of Australia's international mail passes, and it houses an Australian Federal Police forensic rapid lab used to test suspicious items.

For a Sydney address, that usually means your parcel is screened locally before Australia Post delivers it. Most compliant personal-use parcels pass without comment. As-needed dosing suits men who have sex once or twice a week and want the fewest tablets. Daily low-dose tadalafil suits men who want spontaneity, have sex more often, or also have prostate symptoms. Why the 90-tablet pack is the right size for Australian orders

The Personal Importation Scheme caps each order at three months' supply at the maximum recommended dose. For tadalafil, the maximum is one tablet a day, so three months is about 90 tablets. Our larger packs (120, 150 and 300 tablets) are cheaper per tablet, but a single parcel of that size is above the personal import limit for Australia. For Sydney orders, choose 90 tablets or fewer per order and space orders out.

Australian tadalafil labels say to store below 25°C. Sydney's average daily maximum sits above that from December to March, according to Bureau of Meteorology long-term averages. Side effects to expect

In the US label's eight placebo-controlled trials of as-needed tadalafil, headache was reported by 15% of men on 20 mg against 5% on placebo, and indigestion by 10% against 1%. Back pain and muscle aches, which tend to start 12 to 24 hours after a dose and settle within 48 hours, were reported by a few per cent. Most side effects are mild and fade as the dose wears off.

Seek urgent care for an erection lasting more than four hours, sudden loss of vision in one or both eyes, sudden hearing loss, or chest pain during sex.

Who should not take tadalafil

• Anyone using a nitrate medicine in any form, including glyceryl trinitrate spray or patches and isosorbide tablets. The combination can drop blood pressure dangerously.
• Anyone taking riociguat for pulmonary hypertension.
• Men for whom sexual activity is unsafe because of heart disease, such as a heart attack within 90 days or unstable angina.
• Anyone who has had a serious allergic reaction to tadalafil.

Drug interactions that matter

Alpha blockers such as tamsulosin or prazosin, other blood pressure medicines and five or more standard drinks can each add to tadalafil's blood-pressure-lowering effect. Strong CYP3A4 inhibitors, such as ketoconazole, itraconazole and ritonavir, raise tadalafil levels: the label limits as-needed dosing to 10 mg once every 72 hours in that case. Never combine tadalafil with sildenafil or vardenafil.

Red flags when buying online

• A site that says you do not need a prescription to import tadalafil into Australia. That is not what the TGA says.
• No named manufacturer on the product page, or a pack with no batch number and expiry date.
• "Herbal" erection products. The TGA has repeatedly found undeclared sildenafil and tadalafil in them, and a product with an undeclared ingredient cannot be lawfully imported.
• Offers of 300-tablet packs to Australian addresses with no mention of the three-month limit.

Prices compared with a Sydney pharmacy

Generic tadalafil is not subsidised on the PBS for erectile dysfunction, so local pharmacies charge the full private price.
