Ivercor 24mg (Ivermectin)

Ivercor 24 is an ivermectin tablet from Actiza Pharmaceutical, a drug company in Surat, India. Each tablet contains 24 mg of ivermectin, eight times the strength of the 3 mg tablet sold as Stromectol and its generics. Ivermectin treats specific parasitic infections, and the dose depends on body weight. At the US label dose of about 200 mcg per kg, one 24 mg tablet is the calculated single dose for someone weighing about 120 kg. We sell it in packs of 100 to 1,000 tablets, from $0.88 a tablet.

Three points first. For most adults, one 24 mg tablet is more than the label dose: at 80 kg it works out at 1.5 times the strongyloidiasis dose, and at 60 kg at twice the dose (our arithmetic from the label). We would not recommend Ivercor 24 unless a doctor has worked out that your dose is 24 mg. And the smallest pack is 100 tablets, while one course is usually one or two tablets.

Disclosure: Actiza Pharmaceutical is connected to SafeRxPills, so we have a direct interest in this brand. That is one more reason this page sticks to the regulators' labels and published studies, listed at the end. It covers the price per tablet, who a 24 mg dose fits, how Ivercor compares with Stromectol and US generics, the safety warnings, and how delivery works.

The larger packs are cheaper per tablet before shipping too, so free shipping is not the only reason they cost less per tablet.

Be realistic about quantity. Under the US label, strongyloidiasis is treated with a single dose, so for a person whose dose is 24 mg one course is one tablet, and the 100 pack holds 100 courses. Scabies is usually treated with two doses 7 to 14 days apart (CDC), so the 100 pack holds 50 courses. Even the CDC's longest crusted scabies schedule, seven doses, uses 7 tablets. If you need one course, the smallest pack is far more than you need; check the expiry date on the strips when your order arrives.

Compared with our other strengths: two Ivercor 12 tablets cost $1.26 to $1.60 before shipping, so if your prescribed dose really is 24 mg, one Ivercor 24 tablet costs less per dose.

Ivercor compared with Stromectol and US generics

Stromectol is Merck's ivermectin, first approved by the FDA in 1996 (originally as a 6 mg tablet; the 3 mg tablet is the one sold today). The FDA has since approved several generic 3 mg tablets rated as therapeutically equivalent (AB) to it, which means they were shown to be bioequivalent, and one generic 6 mg tablet. Ivercor contains the same drug, but no stringent regulator such as the FDA, MHRA, TGA or Health Canada has reviewed its bioequivalence to Stromectol, so its quality depends on the manufacturer and the supply chain.

The US figures are NADAC, the average price US pharmacies pay to buy a medicine, from the file as of 21 October 2026: $2.02811 per generic 3 mg tablet and $9.85711 per generic 6 mg tablet (both effective 21 October 2026), and $4.45930 per Stromectol 3 mg tablet (effective 19 November 2025). The price at the counter is higher. Per dose, our tablet is far cheaper than what US pharmacies pay. But our smallest pack costs $145 with shipping, against about $16 that a US pharmacy pays for the eight generic tablets in a single 24 mg dose. Who a 24 mg dose fits

Ivermectin is dosed by body weight, usually as a single dose. The US Stromectol label gives the strongyloidiasis dose in 3 mg tablets up to 79 kg, then "200 mcg/kg" for 80 kg and over, without a rounding rule. Working that through (our arithmetic): a 24 mg dose matches 200 mcg per kg at 120 kg, and 150 mcg per kg, the onchocerciasis dose, at 160 kg.

The labels differ at the top of the weight range. The UK label recommends 200 micrograms per kg for strongyloidiasis, but its guidance table stops at six 3 mg tablets (18 mg) for 80 kg and over, so under that table a 24 mg dose is more than the listed strongyloidiasis dose at any weight. The UK label does give 24 mg (eight 3 mg tablets) for 65 to 84 kg in one setting: mass treatment programmes for lymphatic filariasis (Wuchereria bancrofti) in endemic areas where treatment can only be given once every 12 months, at 300 to 400 mcg per kg. In our reading, that is a public health programme dose, not a dose for treating an individual patient for strongyloidiasis or scabies.

Which strength to choose

Weight bands from the US label tables (strongyloidiasis Table 1, onchocerciasis Table 2), converted to Ivercor tablets; the 24 mg row is our arithmetic. Doses in between, such as 9 mg (36 to 50 kg) or 15 mg (66 to 79 kg) for strongyloidiasis, are combinations of the smaller tablets. Our ivermectin dosage guide covers the full tables.

Can you split an Ivercor 24 tablet?

We could not confirm whether Ivercor 24 tablets have a score line: Actiza's product page and its trade listings do not say. The Stromectol label describes whole 3 mg tablets, and the UK label describes whole 3 mg tablets that should be crushed for children under 6. We have seen no evidence that a hand-cut half of a 24 mg tablet gives an accurate 12 mg dose. If your dose is 12 mg, use Ivercor 12 instead of cutting a 24 mg tablet.

How to take ivermectin

• Get the infection diagnosed first. Other worms need other drugs, and some infections need follow-up tests.
• The US label says to take ivermectin on an empty stomach with water. The UK label says no food should be taken within two hours before or after the dose. A high-fat meal raised absorption about 2.5-fold in a US label study.
• For scabies, CDC guidance says to take each of the two doses with food, to increase absorption, and notes that ivermectin guidelines recommend an empty stomach. Our own view: food can raise the amount absorbed about 2.5-fold, so ask your prescriber before taking a 24 mg tablet with a meal. Follow your prescriber's instructions on timing.
• For strongyloidiasis, the US label advises at least three stool tests over the three months after treatment, because larvae reappeared in some patients up to 106 days later. If larvae return, the label says retreatment with ivermectin is indicated; that is your doctor's decision.
• People with a weakened immune system (including HIV) may need repeated courses for strongyloidiasis; the US label says several treatments at 2-week intervals may be required, and cure may not be achievable.
• For onchocerciasis, ivermectin acts on the larvae (microfilariae) but not the adult worms, so the US label says repeated follow-up and retreatment is usually required; for individual patients, retreatment may be considered at intervals as short as 3 months.

What ivermectin treats

In the studies behind the US Stromectol label, a single dose of about 200 mcg per kg cured 64% to 100% of patients with intestinal strongyloidiasis. In onchocerciasis, a single 150 mcg per kg dose reduced skin microfilariae by 99.5% at 3 months. The UK-licensed 3 mg tablets are approved for intestinal strongyloidiasis, lymphatic filariasis caused by Wuchereria bancrofti, and scabies. The Australian label adds crusted scabies in conjunction with topical therapy, and human scabies "when prior topical treatment has failed or is contraindicated". In the US, the CDC says oral ivermectin is not FDA approved for scabies.

Ivermectin tablets are not approved for any other condition in the US, UK, Australia or Canada; topical ivermectin is separately approved for rosacea, and in the US for head lice. We sell these tablets for the parasitic infections above and do not recommend them for anything else. The UK label says it "is strongly recommended that ivermectin is not used for the treatment of patients with or suspected to be infected with SARS-COV2" (section 4.4).

What the evidence says about doses above 200 mcg per kg

The side effect rates in the US label come from doses of 170 to 200 mcg per kg (strongyloidiasis) and 100 to 200 mcg per kg (onchocerciasis). The label gives no side effect rates for higher doses. It mentions a study in healthy volunteers who took 30 to 120 mg (333 to 2000 mcg per kg), but it reports only the food effect from that study.

A Merck study matching that description was published by Guzzo and colleagues in 2002 (our identification; the label does not name it): 68 healthy adults, three in four on ivermectin and one in four on placebo, took single doses of 90 or 120 mg, or 30 or 60 mg three times in a week. The authors reported that ivermectin was generally well tolerated, with no sign of brain-related side effects at up to 10 times 200 mcg per kg, and that adverse events were similar to placebo and did not increase with dose. It was one small study in healthy volunteers. It does not show that higher doses work better, and it is not proof of safety in patients: the US label reports confusion, coma and death at recommended doses as well as in overdose. Weight-based dosing stays the rule.

If you and your doctor decide on Ivercor 24

• Use it only if a doctor has diagnosed the infection and calculated that your dose is 24 mg, for example for strongyloidiasis at about 120 kg (our arithmetic from the US label). Above about 120 kg, 24 mg is less than 200 mcg per kg.
• Take one tablet as the single dose. Do not take a 24 mg tablet because a 12 mg dose "did not work"; repeat doses and higher doses are your doctor's decision, based on follow-up tests.
• If you have side effects, especially confusion, unusual drowsiness or difficulty walking, stop and speak to your doctor, or get urgent help as below.
• Keep the rest of the pack out of reach of children and other adults. A tablet sized for a 120 kg adult is a large overdose for a child.

Side effects

Selected rows. The strongyloidiasis rates are side effects judged possibly, probably or definitely related to ivermectin. The Mazzotti rows are reactions to dying larvae in the first 4 days of onchocerciasis treatment, which are not expected in strongyloidiasis; fast heart rate was a drug-related reaction in the same trials. Safety warnings

• Confusion or drowsiness: the US label reports neurotoxicity, including altered consciousness from drowsiness to stupor and coma, confusion, disorientation and death, "with recommended dosage and overdosage of ivermectin". These reactions generally resolved with supportive care and stopping ivermectin.
• Loa loa: people with onchocerciasis who are also heavily infected with Loa loa, found in parts of West and Central Africa, can rarely develop a serious or even fatal brain reaction. The US label says anyone with significant exposure to those areas should be assessed for loiasis before treatment and followed up carefully afterwards.
• Other serious reactions: since the drug was registered, low blood pressure (mainly on standing), worsening asthma, severe skin reactions (Stevens-Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis), seizures, hepatitis and raised liver enzymes and bilirubin have been reported (US label, post-marketing; the label gives no frequency).
• Severe skin reactions (UK label 4.4): the UK label says Stevens-Johnson syndrome and toxic epidermal necrolysis, which can be life-threatening or fatal, have been reported with ivermectin. If signs of these reactions appear, ivermectin "should be withdrawn immediately", and after such a reaction "treatment with ivermectin must not be restarted at any time".
• Warfarin: increased INR has been reported rarely when ivermectin was taken with warfarin, so tell your doctor if you take it.
• Older people: the US label says treatment of older patients should be cautious, because liver, kidney and heart problems and other medicines are more common.
• Never use veterinary ivermectin such as horse paste. It is made for animals, at concentrations not intended for people, and the US label lists seizures among the effects reported after human exposure to veterinary products.

When to get urgent help

Get emergency help, or ask someone to call for you, if after taking ivermectin you have:

• Confusion, unusual drowsiness, difficulty standing or walking, a seizure, or loss of consciousness.
• Swelling of the lips, tongue, face or throat, trouble breathing or swallowing, hives, a spreading rash, or blistering or peeling skin.
• Fainting or severe dizziness on standing, or an asthma attack that does not settle with your usual reliever.
• Yellow skin or eyes, or dark urine.
• Taken more than the dose you were prescribed, or a child has swallowed a tablet. The US label reports neurotoxicity, including coma and death, in overdose. In the US you can also call Poison Control on 1-800-222-1222, and in Australia the Poisons Information Centre on 13 11 26.

Tell the emergency staff that you took ivermectin, how much and when.

Who should not take Ivercor 24

Never take it if:

• you are allergic to ivermectin or any ingredient of the tablet (US label Contraindications; UK label 4.3). This is the only contraindication in either label.

Not recommended, or only with care:

• Weighing much less than about 120 kg: one 24 mg tablet is more than the 200 mcg per kg label dose (see the table above), so Ivercor 24 is not suitable as your dose unless your doctor has decided on it. It is not a strength for children.
• Pregnancy: the US label says ivermectin "should not be used during pregnancy since safety in pregnancy has not been established". The UK label says it "should only be used when strictly indicated".
• Breastfeeding: the US label says ivermectin passes into breast milk in low concentrations and that treatment of mothers who intend to breastfeed should only be undertaken when the risk of delayed treatment to the mother outweighs the possible risk to the newborn. The UK label says to give it to breastfeeding mothers only if the benefit to the mother outweighs the potential risk to the baby, and to delay treatment of mothers who intend to breastfeed until 1 week after the birth.
• Children under 15 kg: the US label says safety and effectiveness have not been established; the UK label says safety has not been established.
• Possible Loa loa exposure, a weakened immune system, or warfarin: see the warnings above and talk to a doctor first.

Prescription and legal status

• US: ivermectin tablets are prescription drugs under federal law ("Rx only"), although several states, including Arkansas, Idaho, Iowa, Louisiana, Tennessee and Texas, have passed laws allowing sale without a prescription (in some, only from a pharmacist). The FDA says personal importation of unapproved medicines is illegal in most circumstances.
• UK: the MHRA has licensed generic ivermectin 3 mg tablets (the first, from Laboratorios Liconsa, in April 2023) for intestinal strongyloidiasis, lymphatic filariasis and scabies, as prescription-only medicines. Ivercor has no UK licence.
• Australia: oral ivermectin is a prescription-only (Schedule 4) medicine. TGA-registered oral products include Stromectol and a generic, Glenmect (Glenmark); the PBS lists ivermectin 3 mg tablets in packs of 4.
• Canada: Stromectol 3 mg (Merck Canada) has been marketed since November 2018 and is a prescription medicine in the Health Canada Drug Product Database.
• India: Actiza says it is a 100% export-oriented company that does not sell within India. We found no Ivercor listing on Indian retail pharmacy sites (Tata 1mg, PharmEasy, Apollo, Truemeds), where the ivermectin tablets we found went up to 12 mg, so we could not confirm the Indian prescription status of Ivercor 24.

Buying genuine Ivercor

The MHRA warns that "Any medicine not authorised for sale in the UK can be unsafe or ineffective and there is no way of knowing what is in them or the negative health effects they can have." That warning covers this Indian Ivercor pack, which is not authorised in the UK, and the MHRA advises UK buyers: "Only use UK-registered pharmacies, including online pharmacies displaying the official green cross logo." When your order arrives, check that each strip shows Ivercor, ivermectin 24 mg, the manufacturer, a batch number and an expiry date; Actiza's trade listings describe strips of 10 tablets in boxes of 10 strips. Reject strips that are damaged, unsealed or unmarked. These checks cannot prove a product is genuine, because counterfeiters copy packaging. If a batch causes unusual symptoms, stop using it, seek medical advice, and report it to your medicines regulator (the MHRA Yellow Card scheme in the UK, FDA MedWatch in the US, the TGA in Australia or Health Canada) as well as to us.
