What it is used for
According to the US FDA label for Xeljanz (DailyMed), tofacitinib is used for adults with moderately to severely active rheumatoid arthritis, active psoriatic arthritis, active ankylosing spondylitis or moderately to severely active ulcerative colitis, and children 2 years and older with active psoriatic arthritis or polyarticular course juvenile idiopathic arthritis, in each case after one or more TNF blockers did not work well enough or were not tolerated. The US label carries a boxed warning about serious infections including tuberculosis, a higher death rate, cancer, major heart events and blood clots. Your doctor decides whether it suits you.
