Aurogra 100mg

Aurogra 100 mg is a generic sildenafil citrate tablet manufactured by Aurochem Laboratories in India. Each tablet contains 100 mg of sildenafil, equivalent to the standard high dose of brand Viagra. Aurogra is one of the older Indian generic sildenafil brands, with WHO-GMP manufacturing standards and a long export track record. The 100 mg strength is the most commonly prescribed sildenafil dose worldwide for adult erectile dysfunction.

Sildenafil was the first PDE5 inhibitor approved for erectile dysfunction. It has been studied in thousands of trials covering hundreds of thousands of patient-years since its approval (PMID 9603910). The molecule works by selectively inhibiting phosphodiesterase type 5 in the smooth muscle of penile blood vessels, which prevents premature breakdown of cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP). With sustained cGMP levels, sexual stimulation produces and maintains an erection.

How Aurogra 100 differs from other sildenafil brands

The active molecule is identical across all sildenafil generics, including Cenforce 100 mg, Fildena 100 mg, Kamagra 100 mg, and brand Viagra. What differs between brands is the manufacturer, the excipients, the tablet color and shape, and the pricing. Aurogra is positioned as a value-tier generic. Pharmacokinetic equivalence to brand reference has been documented for WHO-GMP-manufactured sildenafil products.

If you have used another sildenafil generic and want a price-tier alternative, Aurogra 100 is functionally equivalent. If you have not tried sildenafil before, the brand choice matters less than getting the dose right.

Onset, duration, and effectiveness

Onset is typically 30 to 60 minutes after dosing. Food, particularly high-fat meals, can delay absorption and push onset out to 90 minutes or more. Take on a relatively empty stomach for the most predictable response. Duration of clinically meaningful effect is approximately 4 hours. In pivotal trials, sildenafil 100 mg produced erections sufficient for intercourse in approximately 82 percent of attempts versus 24 percent on placebo (PMID 9603910).

Side effects

Common adverse effects of sildenafil 100 mg include headache (16 percent), flushing (10 percent), dyspepsia (7 percent), nasal congestion (4 percent), and visual disturbances such as a bluish tinge or increased light sensitivity (3 percent). The visual effects are dose-related and reflect minor cross-reactivity with PDE6 in the retina; they are temporary and not harmful.

Contraindications

Sildenafil must not be combined with nitrates in any form, including nitroglycerin, isosorbide dinitrate or mononitrate, and recreational amyl nitrite. The combination can cause severe, sometimes fatal, hypotension. Concurrent use of alpha-blockers requires careful dose timing. Strong CYP3A4 inhibitors (ketoconazole, itraconazole, HIV protease inhibitors) significantly raise sildenafil plasma levels and may require dose reduction.

Men with severe cardiovascular disease, recent heart attack or stroke within six months, severe hepatic impairment, retinitis pigmentosa, or anatomical penile deformities should consult a clinician before use.

How to use

The standard adult on-demand dose is 50 mg. The 100 mg dose is reserved for men with inadequate response at 50 mg. If 50 mg is unfamiliar territory, start there before going to 100 mg. Take one tablet 30 to 60 minutes before sexual activity. Sexual stimulation is required. Maximum frequency is once per 24 hours.
