Fildena 100 Review: Does It Work, Side Effects and How It Compares With Viagra

Fildena 100 is a sildenafil tablet from Fortune Healthcare in Vadodara, India. Each tablet is labelled to contain 100 mg of sildenafil, the active ingredient in Viagra, at the same strength as Viagra 100 mg. Most people searching for a Fildena 100 review want three answers: does it work, is it safe, and is it the same as Viagra.

This review answers them from the evidence that exists. We found no published trial of Fildena itself, so the efficacy and side effect figures below come from the sildenafil trials in the US prescribing information for Viagra. They apply to a tablet that contains 100 mg of sildenafil and releases it into the blood the way Viagra does; for Fildena, neither has been shown in a published study. The short verdict

Sildenafil 100 mg works for most men with erectile dysfunction: in the fixed-dose trials, 82% of men on 100 mg reported improved erections, against 24% on placebo. A Fildena 100 tablet would perform the same way only if it contains what its label says and releases it like Viagra, and no published study has checked either. Fildena has not been assessed by the FDA, the MHRA, the TGA or Health Canada. It is also the maximum dose, not the starting dose: the sildenafil label recommends 50 mg for most men. Side effects are common at 100 mg, mostly headache, flushing and indigestion, and a small number of men must not take sildenafil at all.

The colour tells you nothing about strength or authenticity, because counterfeiters copy colour and packaging too.

Does Fildena 100 work? What the sildenafil trials show

Sildenafil is one of the most studied erectile dysfunction drugs. In four fixed-dose trials lasting 12 to 24 weeks, 1,797 men were each kept on one dose, so the doses can be compared directly. At the end, men answered a global question: had their erections improved?

The step from 50 mg to 100 mg was smaller than the step from placebo to 25 mg. That matters when choosing a strength, because side effects rise with dose too (see below). In the titration studies, where most men ended up on 100 mg, the results were similar.

How often sex was successful

An improved erection is not the same as successful sex, so several of the trials also asked men to keep diaries. Across about 1,600 men, sildenafil did not change how often they tried to have sex (about twice a week), but it changed how often it worked:

• Successful attempts per week averaged 1.3 on 50 to 100 mg of sildenafil, against 0.4 on placebo.
• About 66% of all attempts were successful on sildenafil, against about 20% on placebo.

So even on sildenafil, roughly one attempt in three did not succeed. A single disappointing night is not proof that the tablet is fake or that sildenafil does not work for you.

Will it work for your cause of erectile dysfunction?

The label reports separate studies and subgroups for some common causes. Each figure below is against its own placebo group, so compare each pair rather than the rows with each other.

In each group, more men improved on sildenafil than on placebo. Because the studies differ in design and dose, the rows are not directly comparable with each other. The label also reports benefit in men with heart disease, high blood pressure, depression and those taking antidepressants or blood pressure medicines. What a Fildena 100 review cannot tell you

Online reviews of Fildena, ours included, have limits you should know about before trusting them.

• Placebo effects are large. In the trials, 24% of men on placebo said their erections improved. A glowing review cannot separate the drug from expectation.
• One batch is not every batch. A review describes the tablets one person received. It cannot vouch for the next order.
• No published Fildena data. We found no published bioequivalence study or clinical trial of Fildena, and no regulator in the US, UK, Australia or Canada has reviewed one. FDA-approved generics had to prove bioequivalence to Viagra; no such data for Fildena has been published.
• Counterfeits are common online. When Pfizer tested 22 orders from websites claiming to sell its Viagra in 2011, 77% were counterfeit and contained 30% to 50% of the labelled dose. That study tested fake Viagra, not Fildena, but it shows what unlicensed channels can deliver.

The fair summary: sildenafil works. Whether a given Fildena 100 tablet delivers the same dose into the blood as Viagra has not been shown in any published study. That is a question of manufacturing quality, and a review cannot settle it.

Why Fildena 100 might not seem to work

Many men who say sildenafil failed had not given it a full trial. In one study, 60 men came to a clinic saying sildenafil did not work for them. Most had at least one gap in how they had used it:

Forty-four of the 60 agreed to try again. After instruction and four doses of 100 mg, 24 of the 41 men who were followed up (59%) had successful intercourse. It was a small study without a placebo group, but the lesson is practical: check how you are taking it before deciding it does not work.

How to take Fildena 100 for a fair trial

• If you have not taken sildenafil before, start with 50 mg, the label's usual dose, and move to 100 mg only if 50 mg was tolerated but not enough.
• Take the dose with water about an hour before sex. The label allows anywhere from 30 minutes to 4 hours beforehand.
• It can be taken with or without food, but a high-fat meal delayed the peak blood level by about an hour and lowered it by 29%.
• Sexual stimulation is needed. Sildenafil does not cause an erection on its own.
• Take no more than one dose in 24 hours, and do not combine it with any other erectile dysfunction treatment; the label says such combinations have not been studied and are not recommended.
• Give it several attempts on separate occasions before judging it.

How long Fildena 100 lasts

Peak blood levels arrive 30 to 120 minutes after a dose on an empty stomach, with a median of 60 minutes, and sildenafil's half-life is about 4 hours. In the one label study that looked at timing, the effect lasted up to 4 hours, though it was weaker at 4 hours than at 2. It does not give a 24-hour or weekend-long window; that is tadalafil. Is 100 mg the right strength?

Fildena 100 is the maximum dose, not the usual one. The sildenafil label recommends 50 mg about an hour before sex for most men, allows a move up to 100 mg or down to 25 mg depending on effect and side effects, and sets 100 mg as the maximum, no more than once a day.

We found no published evidence that the chewable, soft gel or under-the-tongue versions work faster than a standard tablet. Above 100 mg, the label says side effects were generally reported more often, and in healthy volunteers given 200 to 800 mg, falls in blood pressure, fainting and prolonged erections were reported. Start lower if any of these apply

The label advises considering a 25 mg starting dose for men over 65, men with liver impairment or severe kidney impairment, and men taking erythromycin or a strong CYP3A4 inhibitor such as ketoconazole or itraconazole. Men on an alpha blocker such as doxazosin or tamsulosin should be stable on it first and start sildenafil at 25 mg. Men taking ritonavir should take no more than 25 mg in 48 hours. For all of these men, a 100 mg tablet is the wrong place to start.

Side effects reported at 100 mg

These rates come from the fixed-dose trials in the sildenafil label, where each man stayed on one dose.

Abnormal vision was mostly a colour tinge to vision, sometimes with extra sensitivity to light or blurring, and was mild to moderate and temporary. It is the side effect that rises most sharply between 50 mg and 100 mg, along with indigestion. In the placebo-controlled studies, 2.5% of men on sildenafil stopped because of side effects, against 2.3% on placebo.

Serious side effects: when to get help

• An erection lasting more than 4 hours. Without prompt treatment it can permanently damage the penis and cause lasting erectile dysfunction.
• Sudden loss or reduction of vision in one or both eyes. Stop taking sildenafil and get medical help straight away.
• Sudden loss or reduction of hearing, sometimes with ringing in the ears or dizziness. Stop and get prompt medical attention.
• Chest pain, dizziness or nausea during sex. Stop and get medical help.

If you need emergency care for a heart problem, tell the staff that you took sildenafil and when. Staff need to know because nitrates are a standard treatment for chest pain, and the label says it is not known when they can safely be given after sildenafil, even 24 hours later.

Who should not take Fildena 100

• Anyone using nitrates in any form, regularly or occasionally, including nitroglycerin and amyl or butyl nitrite "poppers".
• Anyone taking a guanylate cyclase stimulator such as riociguat or vericiguat.
• Anyone allergic to sildenafil or any ingredient of the tablet.
• Men with severe liver impairment, blood pressure below 90/50, a recent heart attack or stroke, retinitis pigmentosa or another inherited retinal disorder, or previous loss of vision in one eye from NAION. The UK and EU labels list these as contraindications; the US label advises caution for most of them and a 25 mg starting dose for liver impairment.
• Men for whom sex is inadvisable because of a heart condition, such as unstable angina or severe heart failure.

Talk to a doctor first if you have had a life-threatening irregular heartbeat in the last 6 months, or have blood pressure above 170/110, severely impaired control of blood pressure, aortic stenosis, a deformed penis, a condition that raises the risk of prolonged erections (sickle cell anaemia, multiple myeloma, leukaemia), a bleeding disorder or an active stomach ulcer. Fildena does not protect against sexually transmitted infections.

Fildena 100 compared with other sildenafil brands

Several Indian makers sell sildenafil 100 mg under their own brand names, including Cenforce 100 (Centurion Laboratories) and Kamagra 100 (Ajanta Pharma). They contain the same active ingredient at the same labelled strength, none is approved by the FDA, MHRA, TGA or Health Canada, and none has published data showing it matches Viagra in the blood. The dose rules and safety warnings in this review apply to all of them. Choosing between them comes down to availability and price, not strength. Prescription and legal status

Sildenafil is a prescription medicine in the US, Australia and Canada. In the UK it is prescription only apart from 50 mg pharmacy packs such as Viagra Connect, which pharmacies can sell after a consultation. Fildena is not licensed by the FDA, the MHRA, the TGA or Health Canada. In the US, the FDA says personal importation of unapproved medicines is illegal in most circumstances. The UK MHRA warns that medicines not authorised in the UK can be unsafe or ineffective, that unlicensed erectile dysfunction pills may contain no active ingredient, the wrong dose, hidden drugs or toxic ingredients, and advises UK buyers to use only UK-registered pharmacies. In the same announcement, the UK health minister said a medicine that does not come from a registered pharmacy is not safe and is breaking the law. See a doctor before using sildenafil, especially if you have heart disease or take regular medicines, and check the rules where you live.

Checking what you receive

When an order arrives, check that each strip names Fortune Healthcare and shows the strength, a batch number and an expiry date, and reject strips that are damaged, unsealed or unmarked. These checks cannot prove a tablet is genuine, because counterfeiters copy packaging. If a batch causes unusual symptoms, stop using it, seek medical advice, and report it to your medicines regulator (the MHRA Yellow Card scheme in the UK, FDA MedWatch in the US) as well as to the seller.

The bottom line

As a molecule, sildenafil 100 mg has strong evidence behind it: most men respond, and its side effects are well known and usually mild. Fildena 100 sells that molecule at a low price per tablet, without the regulatory checks that FDA-approved generics have passed. Start at 50 mg if you have never taken sildenafil, take it the way the label intends before judging it, never combine it with nitrates, and see a doctor if erection problems are new or you have heart disease.
