About Eltroxin 88mcg
What is Eltroxin 88mcg?
Eltroxin 88mcg is an Indian brand of levothyroxine sodium, a thyroid hormone (T4). Each tablet contains levothyroxine sodium (also called thyroxine sodium) 88 mcg. It is made in India by GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals Ltd.
What it is used for
According to the US FDA label for Synthroid (DailyMed), levothyroxine sodium is used for replacing thyroid hormone in hypothyroidism (an underactive thyroid) in adults and children, including newborns, and as an add on to surgery and radioiodine to suppress TSH in well differentiated thyroid cancer; the label says it is not for benign thyroid nodules or goitre in people with enough iodine. The US label carries a boxed warning that thyroid hormones must not be used to treat obesity or for weight loss, and that larger doses can cause serious or life threatening toxicity. Your doctor decides whether it suits you.
Packs and price
Eltroxin 88mcg comes in packs of 60, 120, 360 and 720 tablets. The lowest price works out at about $0.10 per tablet on the 720 tablet pack, as of October 2026; the pack selector shows the current price. Shipping is $25 on orders under $149 and free from $149.
Prescription status
Levothyroxine is a prescription medicine in the US, UK, Australia and Canada. Eltroxin 88mcg itself is an India made pack and is not approved by the FDA, MHRA, TGA or Health Canada. The FDA says that importing unapproved medicines for personal use is illegal in most circumstances, so check the rules where you live.
Before you order
Read the patient leaflet that comes with the pack. Tell your doctor or pharmacist about any other medicines you take and any health conditions you have.
