About Tegrital 100mg
What is Tegrital 100mg?
Tegrital 100mg is an Indian brand of carbamazepine, an antiepileptic medicine. Each tablet contains carbamazepine 100 mg. It is made in India by Novartis India Ltd.
What it is used for
According to the UK SmPC for Tegretol 100 mg, 200 mg and 400 mg tablets (emc), carbamazepine is used for epilepsy (generalised tonic clonic and partial seizures; it is not usually effective for absence or myoclonic seizures), the sudden pain of trigeminal neuralgia, and preventing manic depressive episodes in people who do not respond to lithium. The US label carries a boxed warning about serious, sometimes fatal skin reactions (more likely with the HLA-B*1502 gene variant, found mainly in people of Asian ancestry, who should be tested first) and about serious blood disorders (aplastic anemia and agranulocytosis). Your doctor decides whether it suits you.
Packs and price
Tegrital 100mg comes in packs of 60, 90 and 120 tablets. The lowest price works out at about $0.29 per tablet on the 120 tablet pack, as of October 2026; the pack selector shows the current price. Shipping is $25 on orders under $149 and free from $149.
Prescription status
Carbamazepine is a prescription medicine in the US, UK, Australia and Canada. The plain 100 mg tablet is a UK form; in the US carbamazepine 100 mg comes as chewable tablets and as extended release tablets and capsules. Tegrital 100mg itself is an India made pack and is not approved by the FDA, MHRA, TGA or Health Canada. The FDA says that importing unapproved medicines for personal use is illegal in most circumstances, so check the rules where you live.
Before you order
Read the patient leaflet that comes with the pack. Tell your doctor or pharmacist about any other medicines you take and any health conditions you have.
