What is Tykerb 250mg?

Tykerb 250mg is lapatinib, a kinase inhibitor, sold in India under the Tykerb brand name by GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals Ltd. Each tablet contains lapatinib 250 mg.

What it is used for

According to the US FDA label for Tykerb (DailyMed), lapatinib is used for HER2 positive advanced or metastatic breast cancer, together with capecitabine in people who have already had an anthracycline, a taxane and trastuzumab and whose cancer has progressed on trastuzumab, or together with letrozole in postmenopausal women with hormone receptor positive metastatic breast cancer for whom hormonal therapy is suitable. The US label carries a boxed warning that lapatinib can cause liver damage, which may be severe, and deaths have been reported. Your doctor decides whether it suits you.
