What is Famcimac 500mg?

Famcimac 500mg is an Indian brand of famciclovir, an antiviral medicine. Each tablet contains famciclovir 500 mg. It is made by Macleods Pharmaceuticals Pvt Ltd in India.

What it is used for

According to the US FDA label for famciclovir tablets (DailyMed), famciclovir is used for repeat cold sores, repeat genital herpes episodes and long term suppression of genital herpes, and shingles in adults, plus repeat cold sores or genital herpes in adults with HIV. Your doctor decides whether it suits you.

Packs and price

Prescription status

Famciclovir is prescription only in the US, UK and Canada. In Australia it is prescription only, except small cold sore packs that a pharmacist can supply. The FDA says that importing unapproved medicines for personal use is illegal in most circumstances, so check the rules where you live.
