What is Flunil 40mg?

Flunil 40mg is an Indian brand of fluoxetine, a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) antidepressant. Each capsule contains fluoxetine 40 mg. It is made in India by Intas Pharmaceuticals Ltd.

What it is used for

According to the US FDA label for Prozac (DailyMed), fluoxetine is used for major depressive disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), the binge eating and vomiting behaviors of moderate to severe bulimia nervosa, and panic disorder; together with olanzapine it is also used for depressive episodes of bipolar I disorder and for treatment resistant depression. The US label carries a boxed warning that antidepressants increased the risk of suicidal thoughts and behaviors in children, teenagers and young adults in short term studies, so anyone taking it should be watched closely for worsening mood or new suicidal thoughts. Your doctor decides whether it suits you.
