What is Serta 50mg?

Serta 50mg is an Indian brand of sertraline, a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) antidepressant. Each tablet contains sertraline 50 mg. It is made in India by Torrent Pharmaceuticals Ltd.

What it is used for

According to the US FDA label for Zoloft (DailyMed), sertraline is used for major depressive disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), panic disorder, post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), social anxiety disorder and premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD). The US label carries a boxed warning that antidepressants increased the risk of suicidal thoughts and behaviors in children, teenagers and young adults in short term studies, so anyone taking it should be watched closely for worsening mood or new suicidal thoughts. Your doctor decides whether it suits you.

Prescription status

Sertraline is a prescription medicine in the US, UK, Australia and Canada. Serta 50mg itself is an India made pack and is not approved by the FDA, MHRA, TGA or Health Canada.
