What is Apismart 5mg?

Apismart 5mg is an Indian brand of apixaban, an anticoagulant (factor Xa inhibitor). Each tablet contains apixaban 5 mg. It is made in India by Healing Pharma.

What it is used for

According to the US FDA label for Eliquis (DailyMed), apixaban is used for lowering the risk of stroke and blood clots in adults with atrial fibrillation not caused by a heart valve problem, preventing deep vein thrombosis after hip or knee replacement, treating deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism and lowering the risk of them coming back, and treating venous thromboembolism in children. The US label carries a boxed warning that stopping it early raises the risk of blood clots and stroke, and that bleeding around the spine (spinal or epidural hematoma), which can cause lasting paralysis, can happen in people who have spinal anesthesia or a spinal puncture. Your doctor decides whether it suits you.
