What is Lasix 40mg?

Lasix 40mg is furosemide, a loop diuretic (water pill), sold in India under the Lasix brand name by Sanofi India Limited. Each tablet contains furosemide 40 mg.

What it is used for

According to the US FDA label for Lasix tablets (DailyMed), furosemide is used for fluid retention (edema) linked to heart failure, liver cirrhosis and kidney disease, including nephrotic syndrome, in adults and children, and high blood pressure in adults. The US label carries a boxed warning that furosemide is a strong diuretic and too much can cause severe loss of water and salts (electrolytes), so it is used under careful medical supervision. Your doctor decides whether it suits you.
