What is Brilinta 60mg?

Brilinta 60mg is ticagrelor, an antiplatelet medicine (P2Y12 inhibitor), sold in India under the Brilinta brand name by AstraZeneca Pharma India Ltd. Each tablet contains ticagrelor 60 mg.

What it is used for

According to the US FDA label for Brilinta (DailyMed), ticagrelor is used for lowering the risk of cardiovascular death, heart attack and stroke in people with acute coronary syndrome or a past heart attack, lowering the risk of a first heart attack or stroke in people with coronary artery disease at high risk, and lowering the risk of stroke after a minor ischemic stroke or high risk transient ischemic attack (TIA). The US label carries a boxed warning about serious, sometimes fatal bleeding, and says that stopping it early raises the risk of heart events. Your doctor decides whether it suits you.

Prescription status

Ticagrelor is a prescription medicine in the US, UK, Australia and Canada. Brilinta 60mg itself is an Indian market pack and is not approved by the FDA, MHRA, TGA or Health Canada. The FDA says that importing unapproved medicines for personal use is illegal in most circumstances, so check the rules where you live.

Before you order
